SAN JUAN STARGAZERS’ SHARED LIBRARY
Books in the possession of Joan Mieritz, but available to club members at most events.
******2021 OBSERVER’S HANDBOOK ****** Published by The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada This book was purchased by the club & is available to everyone, to be checked out & viewed at every event. If you have the book, please bring it to all events. Members can write & make notes in this book. This is a very valuable book for Telescope Viewing. It cost about $30 & is good for one year. Make sure you get your turn to make use of it & see what you can learn.
THE HANDY ASTRONOMY ANSWER BOOK by Charles Liu I actually bring this book to most Astronomy Events and I wish every club member could have their own copy. It would be hard to come up with a basic Astronomy question that is not covered in this book. This is my secret to knowing a lot about astronomy. Ask for it at events. I love the logic of how the questions flow. It is hard to put down. I may not let anyone take it home. It is one of my favorite books.
GUIDE TO PREHISTORIC ASTRONOMY IN THE SOUTHWEST by J. McKim Malville He is the man who discovered in 1988 that Chimney Rock is connected to the Northern Lunar Standstill. He continues to do research & usually comes here every year to share the latest. You should have a chance to meet him. His book tells all the important information about Chimney Rock & the Chacoan Culture. This is another book that I take to most Astronomy Events. It is available at the C.R.I.A. Chimney Rock Gift Shop. I recommend it to learn the details of the Astronomy activity of the Ancient People. It is the legacy that we are carrying on.
