Life at Chimney Rock

WE NEVER CANCEL OUR PROGRAMS DUE TO WEATHER. There is a saying about weather in Colorado, that if you don’t like it, wait 10 minutes and it will be different. Visitors have had to wait in their cars due to pouring rain at the beginning of our talk and by the end, the sky was clear enough to set up our telescopes for some incredible viewing. We take the weather each moment as it comes and do the best for our visitors’ safety and enjoyment.

There are many activities done by the ancient people such as yucca pounding, rock art, basket weaving, attlatl throwing, the Lunar Standstill & more! The San Juan Stargazers play an important part, because the ancestral puebloan people were also astronomers. We have a popular table and answer many questions about astronomy, especially about the Lunar Standstill.
