Crab Nebula Remnant of Supernova Explosion Seen at Chimney Rock in 1054

DECEMBER 27, 2018
The San Juan Stargazers will hold their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, December 27, at the Chamber Visitors’ Center Conference Room. The meeting is from 7- 8:30 PM. We are looking for a new location to hold our meetings. If you have an idea of a possible location please check it out and share it with the group that night. This will be our last meeting at the Chamber, so we will need a new place by the 4th Thursday of January.
Our program for the night will be on the amazing Hubble photo of the Crab Nebula which was a supernova in 1054 that was seen presumably by the ancient people at Chimney Rock & was documented by a rock art picture in Chaco Canyon. There is a special invitation for all CRIA members to join us since this is so relevant to the people, past & present of Chimney Rock.
The San Juan Stargazers are part of the Astronomical League, which includes clubs from all over the US. We have a web-site—www.SanJuanStargazers.com as well as an email address, sjstargazers@gmail.com and a club phone number 970-335-8286, to help communicate with the public.
